Our stay at the home of Caroline and Marc was a highlight on our Chemin du Soleil. We did not only love the spacious very clean studio, the garage for the mountainbikes, the delicious dinner together with the two of them, the home made crepes for breakfast, the beautiful views and the peaceful silence but especially the spirit of the house. We miss the good conversations with open-minded very nice people who found their paradise to live their life in respect to the village and nature. A perfect place for those who like to explore the breathtaking landscape of the Terres Noires. Marc has a lot of tour ideas for hikers and bikers and knows all about the fantastic geology and the nature of the region.read more

From our “gites les terres noires” you can discover the region by motorbike or by car. We would be happy to help you plan your days out, with, for example, a mix of driving, hiking in the morning and relaxing near a swimming spot in the afternoon.

We can also give you some advice on the best, little-known places to swimm nearby our lodges.

Digne les bains

Eglise St Jerôme Digne
Bien être aux thermes

We can provide in-depth knowledge of Digne les Bains’ tourist attractions:

The museums of Digne les Bains include: the ” musée promenade“, a mix of a shaded nature trail and exposed Art pieces, with a butterfly garden and a small natural history museum; the lavander museum and the Gassendi museum with its art, local history and science collections.

The thermal baths of Digne les Bains where you can relax and been pampered in their zen space and health club.

Our” Dame-du-Bourg” church with its archeological crypt.

The “Samten dzong” villa, where Alexandra David-Néel, a famous explorer and French writer with a passion for Eastern Asia, lived. She was the first European woman to stay in Lhassa Tibet.

La dalle aux ammonites” , a large rock slab made of giant ammonites fossils.

The plateau of Valensole

Come join us between mid-June and beginning of July to marvel at the lavender fields in full bloom. The beautiful Lavendar Routes, or “Routes de la Lavande”, are right at your fingertips.

Via Ferrata rocher de neuf heures ADT

The “parc aventure” (a treetop adventure park), the via-ferrata near Digne, the artificial lake of the Ferréols (access free), a golf course and even horseriding ….are all at less than 30 minutes drive from our “gites les terres noires”!

The train of ``des Pignes``

Taking the famous train of the Pignes for a day out? This is very easy to do with an early departure from the Digne train station. Stop and visit the village of Annot with its well-known hiking trail among the sandstones and its famous “King bedroom”. You may have your lunch there, board the train early afternoon and stop at Entrevaux, with its Vauban citadel built at 150 meters above the village. Then return to Digne on this famous train at the end of the afternoon..

Clue de Barles ADT

Have you ever driven over such charming mountainous roads?

Why not stop for a few days at our “gites les terres noires”!

We are motorbike riders and we know well all of the small and sinuous roads in the area very well. They are absolutely delightful. It is worth taking the time to do a full day loop, starting by the Corobin pass ,then through Barrême, Plan de Chaude, Thorame to reach the pass of Allos, Barcelonnette and end the loop by the clue of Barles before coming back to our “gites les terresnoires”.  It is incredibly fun and we have many other circuits to offer you!
